Runescape Advantage Guide and Tips - Distractions And Diversions: Shooting Stars

Distractions and Diversions: Shooting Stars

Distractions and Diversions are a series of minigame events that happen at various locations and at various times in Runescape. There are several different ones but today we are going to focus on the Shooting Star.

About every two hours or so, a falling star will crash into the world of Runescape. Stars fall at different times in different worlds. Like everything else in Runescape your own skill levels are going to dictate which stars you can mine. Generally speaking you need a mining level ten times greater than the star’s size to mine it. So a size 1 star requires level 10 mining and this is the lowest skill requirement. Respectfully a size 9 star requires a mining level of 90 or higher.

The place where the star lands is random but will be in one of nine set locations and it will always be near a mine or a bank. Before a star lands it will cast a shadow. The faster you get to the star the more experience you get and the greater the rewards. The first person to start mining also receives a bonus of 5475xp. The rewards include coins, runes, gems and ores in addition to mining XP and the ability to mine extra ore from a single rock for a set period of time.

The best way to find a shooting star is to use your telescope in your house (assuming that you have one). Otherwise you may just stumble across one.

When you find a star, start mining it. You can use the pickaxe in your tool belt but a better axe results in faster mining. You get XP from gathering stardust as you mine. If you stay until the whole thing is done, you will release a star sprite who will give you the rest of the rewards.
